‘Belgian Toothpaste’ on Maui roads.

Belgian Toothpaste is the term some roadie, years ago, coined for the mud and silt and cow shit that oozes up out of the cobblestone pave of Flanders, cycling’s mecca and spiritual homeland. Hilariously, I managed to find some light version of this on a road on Maui. The road passed the dump and these irrigation canals used to fertilize the sugar cane fields. So, yeah – shit, dust, hot garbage, and one hell of a climb. And it rained. I was actually starting to feel pretty beat down on this ride. It was nice to get back and get cleaned up!
